This hotel enjoys a flat level position, and is just 200 yards from Paignton town centre. Facilities include: Restaurant; bar & entertainment lounge with dance floor; heated indoor swimming pool; games room with TV & pool table; WiFi, and lift to all bedrooms. There are five stairs to the restaurant.
MONDAY We travel to Paignton making suitable stops en route. Enjoy tea/coffee on arrival at the hotel.
TUESDAY We commence the day with a visit to Kents Cavern in Torquay, one of the most important Stone Age sites in Europe and one of Britain's best showcaves. As you take a guided walk through the extensive labyrinth of caverns, you'll be surrounded by 400 million year old rocks and spectacular stalagmites and stalactites. We enjoy a lunch of soup and sandwiches here before returning to Paignton for an afternoon at leisure. (N.B. Kents Cavern is an easy cave to visit, but please be aware that there are some narrow passages, low ceiling heights, slopes and steps and some visitors may require assistance. Mobility scooters & wheelchairs cannot access the caves, and sensible footwear/warm clothing is required)
WEDNESDAY This morning we head to the bustling town of Newton Abbot where today is market day. We then continue to Teignmouth, a stunning coastal resort boasting historic Georgian buildings, a lovely high street and long sandy beaches. The river beach is full of boats and has a charming atmosphere making it the perfect place for a gentle stroll.
THURSDAY We visit Exeter today, a compact city, and one of the most attractive and historically interesting in England. It’s just a 4 minute walk between the magnificent cathedral and the award winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, where admission is free. Perhaps visit the beautiful quayside, or enjoy the stylish shops set in architectural splendour.
FRIDAY We depart after breakfast to commence our homeward journey, making suitable stops en route.
