MONDAY Outward journey to Durham, with a suitable stop en route. Mince pies and tea/coffee will be served on arrival. With its UNESCO World Heritage listed cathedral and castle, charming streets and pretty riverside walks, you’ll find Durham a delight to explore.
*CHRISTMAS EVE We make the short walk to the Gala Theatre in Durham for the 11am showing of this year’s pantomime “Beauty & The Beast”, followed by some time at leisure to enjoy the festive atmosphere in the city. Later, a cream tea will be served at the hotel.
CHRISTMAS DAY Merry Christmas! Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, and perhaps take a stroll before a traditional Christmas Day lunch is served, with a glass of champagne. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon before dinner in the evening.
*BOXING DAY A visit to Whitley Bay this morning – you may even witness the locals participating in the annual Boxing Day dip, known as the “pudding run”! From here we journey to Newcastle. Perhaps visit the sweeping streets of Grainger Town and Grey Street or explore the quayside with its landmark buildings.
FRIDAY After breakfast we begin our return journey, taking a break in Richmond en route.
