Holiday Itinerary

Itinerary

MONDAY We commence our outward journey to The Piece Hall, nestled amongst a dramatic landscape of rolling hills and wooded valleys at the centre of Halifax. With its honey-coloured architecture, rich industrial heritage and diverse cultural offerings, this hidden gem makes an ideal destination to visit. From here we continue to the hotel for our four night stay.

TUESDAY A morning visit to Rufford Old Hall, a black and white Tudor building home to five centuries of Lancashire and Hesketh family history, an impressive Great Hall and a tranquil Victorian-style garden. We then continue onwards to the nearby resort of Southport, with its miles of unspoilt coastline, beautiful parks and gardens, listed pier, and of course Lord Street, with an array of Victorian canopied shops offering some excellent retail therapy.

WEDNESDAY We head to Oswaldtwistle Mill to meet our guide for a one hour panoramic circular tour of “Valleys, Fells & Spells”; upon our return we have some time at leisure. We then continue to the nearby Riley Green Marina, for a relaxing and scenic 2 hour cruise with soup & sandwiches included.

THURSDAY A day at leisure to explore St Annes.

FRIDAY We depart the hotel and travel to Smithills Hall, one of the oldest and best preserved manor houses in the North West of England, containing fine examples of architecture through the ages. From here we make the short transfer to the award-winning Olympus Restaurant to enjoy a fish & chip lunch, before continuing our homeward journey.
