Four nights dinner bed & breakfast; programme of entertainment; afternoon tea; Christmas Day lunch
Located in the heart of Harrogate, the hotel offers recently refurbished accommodation overlooking 200 acres of the pristine Stray parkland, just a short stroll from some of the must-see attractions. Facilities include: restaurant; lounge; bar, and complimentary WiFi. Porterage is included.
MONDAY On our outward journey we head to Knaresborough, with its warren of medieval streets and stone staircases that weave their way up and down the hill. The town centre is perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd and the imposing railway viaduct stretches across the Nidd Gorge. We continue to the hotel, enjoying tea/coffee and mince pies on arrival.
CHRISTMAS EVE Our day begins with an “Emmerdale” drive, taking us through the beautiful countryside featured on the opening credits of the tv show, and we make our way to the village of Esholt - “Beckindale” and then “Emmerdale” for many years. Final destination of the day is the former spa town of Ilkley, sheltered by Ilkley Moor and the Cow and Calf Rocks. We return to the hotel for afternoon tea, and a festive quiz. This evening, enjoy a Christmas banquet dinner, followed by Christmas carols, mulled wine, tea or coffee and mince pies.
CHRISTMAS DAY Merry Christmas! After a relaxing morning, sit down to a 4 course Christmas lunch, and later, tea/coffee and Christmas cake will be served during the King’s speech. In the evening, there will be a hot fork buffet with desserts, and evening entertainment of bingo.
BOXING DAY Following breakfast, you have a day at leisure to explore Harrogate. Perhaps enjoy a stroll through Valley Gardens, or take a walk down Montpellier Hill, experiencing the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the area. This evening’s dinner is followed by a festive quiz.
FRIDAY We depart the hotel and head to York. Enjoy some time exploring the city’s many attractions, or perhaps snap up some Christmas sale bargains… and don’t forget a visit to Bettys Café Tea Rooms! We depart in the afternoon and continue our homeward journey.
