MONDAY Outward journey to Skipton with time at leisure. We then continue onwards, stopping briefly at Carnforth Station, the setting for the classic 1945 film ‘Brief Encounter’. From here we continue to the hotel. Enjoy a glass of sherry or fizz prior to dinner, followed by entertainment.
TUESDAY “Christmas Eve”. This morning we journey to Kendal, a town steeped in history and character, with a web of pretty interweaving alleyways and cobbled yards. We then continue on to Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria’s most popular destination on the banks of Lake Windermere. Following Christmas Eve Dinner there will be another evening of entertainment to look forward to.
WEDNESDAY “Christmas Day”. An excursion to Leighton Hall, a much loved family home with a rich heritage. We enjoy arrival coffee and mince pies in front of an open fire, followed by a guided tour of the hall, all dressed for Christmas. It’s then a short journey to Bay View Garden Centre, for free time in the Christmas Shop, plant area and restaurant, with stunning views over Morecambe Bay. There will also be a £9.00 lunch voucher included. Tonight, a traditional Christmas Dinner will be served, followed by hot mince pies and coffee to accompany the night’s entertainment.
THURSDAY “New Year’s Eve”. This morning we head north to Keswick, capital of the Northern Lakes, where today is market day. After some time at leisure here, we continue alongside Thirlmere and visit Grasmere - be sure to purchase some of the legendary Grasmere Gingerbread, or perhaps visit William Wordsworth’s grave. Tonight dinner will be followed by entertainment to see in the new year!
FRIDAY We depart the hotel and make our way home, taking a break in Harrogate en route.
